Where does the bobcat get its name?

The bobcat gets its name from its short "bob" tail, which is four to seven inches long. The end of the bobcat's tail is always black with a white tip.

What do bobcats look like?

Bobcats have short, thick fur that ranges in color from tannish to yellowish-brown or reddish-brown, and is highlighted with dark streaks and spots. Bobcats also have a patch, or tuft, of short black fur on each ear. Bobcats are usually 25-30 inches high and weigh between 15-35 pounds.

Bobcats are carnvores, or meat-eaters. They usually eat rabbits, squirrels and mice.

Where do bobcats live?

Bobcats live in a variety of habitats, including forests, swamps and mountains.

What are bobcat babies called?

Bobcat young are called kittens. Bobcats usually have 3-4 kittens each year.

What sounds do bobcats make?

Bobcats snarl, howl, scream and wail.

Did you know?

Bobcats can jump eight feet in the air, or over three times their height. That would be like you being able to jump over the top of a school bus!
